Dancing Background

as of Dec 18, 2015

I started dancing in middle-school, learning to breakdance. I wasn't good at it, but I loved it. In high-school, I learned how to waltz and polka. In college I took some introduction courses in ballet, jazz, and modern dance as part of my general education as an actor/performer. In the mid-90s I got swept up in the swing dancing craze, which led to other social dances such as salsa, west-coast, blues, and even a bit of tango.

I absolutely love social dancing and have been consistently doing it in one form or another for nearly 18 years now. Every so often I get asked to teach group or private lessons. My main specialty is musicality, and I can cover most of the basics and intermediate material when it comes to swing and basics when it comes to blues. And if I don't know how to do it, I can refer you to someone who does. Please check out the Lessons page for more info.

I occasionally get hired to dance professionally. One of the most fun gigs I've ever had was the one where I got to waltz around with Avis Wrentmore in full costume for the ballroom sequence for Disney's Haunted Mansion movie. Unfortunately, they cut the scene, but used some of the footage for the opening titles and the teaser. You can sort of see us in the left of the freeze frame from the teaser in the second photo.
